On Monday 19th of February 2024, I took the day off work to take the family out to Diamond Creek and Healesville to check out Healesville Sanctuary and some op shops. On our way to Healesville Sanctuary, we stopped at McDonald’s to get the promotional Adult Happy Meal by Kerwin Frost. I already had the basic set of toys from eBay as this was previously available only in the US and I was not expecting them to come out here. Unfortunately, we got two of the same one!
Photos of Healesville Sanctuary
It was nice to see an awake koala sitting up in a tree.
This other koala was sleeping in a terribly uncomfortable position.
Here Charlie is looking for echidnas in their burrow, but there weren’t any there.
I found watching the echidna licking its bowl quite interesting. The echidna’s tongue was like a live worm.
Charlie spotted some kangaroos sleeping.
He may have woken this one up!
Whilst Kayla changed Alex’s nappy, Charlie and I got ice creams. I had a Magnum and Charlie tried a Calipo for the first time. I had to keep holding the ice block up for him. When it was his turn to change his nappy, he was still holding this and the ice slid out of the tube. No more Calipos when laying down.
Charlie looking at a hopping mouse.
We saw Tasmanian devils running around. We learnt that they are fed large meals some days and small meals on other days.
We also saw a Tasmanian devil sleeping.
And there was a wombat sleeping nearby as well.
Here’s a cute photo of the family.
We saw some pelicans from a distance.
My favourite photo of the day was of this duck sitting in the drinking water for the wallabies.
Charlie was fascinated by a duck that was moving sticks and leaves around. Was it making a nest?
Here’s a wallaby looking around.
This goanna is sticking out its tongue.
There was a family of gang-gang cockatoos. They have a red head.
Here is a cool lizard that we saw.
This happy frog was the last animal we saw.
